Baby falls in river
A baby fell into a river after a canoeing accident.
Emergency services were contacted on Saturday, August 6 at 1.30pm with reports of a baby and two adults that had fallen into the River Adur in Shoreham.
Sussex Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) and the air ambulance attended.
A police spokesperson said: “At about 1.32pm on Saturday (6 August), police received a report of two adults and a baby in the river close to Shoreham flyover. It appears they had been in a canoe which capsized, and were helped to shore by another couple who had been kayaking. All parties were conscious throughout.
“The mother and her baby were taken to hospital as a precaution.”
A SECAmb spokesperson said they sent two ambulances and two cars to the scene, and that the baby was okay but the mother was suffering from the cold and from shock.
Both were treated by paramedics and then taken to Worthing Hospital by road.
