Awards galore for Bognor Scout leaders

Five Scout leaders from around Bognor Regis have received certificates for completing their training.

The individuals had to complete 36 stages, which ended in the wood badge, to reach the fully-qualified status.

The awards were handed out by district commissioner Vicky Hennessy at a summer barbecue at the Spur campsite in Slindon.

She made presentations to John Adsett (1st South Bersted Air Scouts), David Birkenshaw (1st Aldwick and Pagham), Trevor Hall (1st Aldwick and Pagham), Dorn Mullor (1st Aldwick and Pagham) and Sue Farrant (1st Felpham).

Sarah Wood, of 2nd Bognor Regis Sea Scouts, also gained her 15-year service award.

Mr Adsett had an added surprise of a birthday cake because he was 62 years old on the day of the presentations.

Meanwhile, 1st Middleton on Sea's Mark Phillips will be presented with his wood badge in the autumn.

The leaders are continuing their dedication to scouting in the summer.

Eighteen are going to the latest international camp held every four years at Ardingly South of England showground. Bognor Regis Guides are also attending.
