Ashington parish council has money in Icelandic bank

ASHINGTON Parish Council has an undisclosed sum invested in an Icelandic bank.

Some years ago it invested money received from developers when a public open space was handed over to the parish.

The money was for permanent future maintenance of the land and was invested with Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander (UK) Bank before it came into Icelandic ownership.

The bank had been a long established British Finance Group.
