Arundel to be aglow with Christmas cheer tonight

Tonight (Saturday, December 8) will see the streets of Arundel awash with the flickering glow of hundreds of candles as part of the town’s annual Christmas late night shopping event.

Traders in the town will be extending their opening hours as part of the popular Arundel By Candlelight evening.

But there will also be plenty of live performances throughout the day from the likes of the TLA Steel Band, Horsham Brass Band and Sue Taylor’s Glee Choir, between noon and 5.15pm.

This afternoon there are lantern workshops inside the Norfolk Arms Hotel. It’s hoped that all those taking part in the sessions will join in with the lantern procession through the High Street, which is scheduled to begin at 5.30pm.

Tarrant Street and parts of High Street will be closed to traffic between 11am and 8pm, with many shops in the town expected to remain open until

People flocked to Arundel to celebrate the festive season and watch the switching-on of the town’s Christmas tree lights.

This is the culmination of Arundel’s Yuletide festivities, which has already seen a Fair Trade market in the castle and the town’s Christmas tree lights illuminating the town’s square, on Saturday (December 1).
