Arts facility celebrates in style

Performing at the open day were patrons of the charity, Eurovision stars Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston formerly of Bucks Fizz, up and coming artist Kyla Stroud and the fabulous Nick Van Ede from 80’s sensation Cutting Crew.

The Rye Harbour based alternative education facility was buzzing with chatter and enthusiasm from start to finish with new partnerships being formed, existing relationships strengthened and future opportunities for the students endless.

Entertainment Workshops provide hands on learning to young people covering the subjects of creative media and production arts.

The students built and designed the stage area and created the lighting design providing a fabulous performance area for the artists.

EW has recovered well after the set back of two consecutive break-in’s where valuable equipment was stolen.

Bouncing back with a positive attitude and a small staff restructure has allowed the charity to grow, now not only helping more students from Rye Studio School Hastings Academy and Helenswood, but also with a new relationship with Headstart School, dealing with complex social and behavioural issues such as autism.

Chairman David Byrne said: “We are so grateful to all the patrons, schools, and local businesses for their never failing support. It was great to see so many elements of the industry present and willing to get involved.

“All of this lends itself to securing pathways to a career for our students, another unique aspect to our delivery.
