Around the World at Early Days

A themed Playday at Early Years Nursery was organised by second year students from Bexhill College BTEC National Diploma Children's care and learning development.

The students planned and prepared a range of exciting activities, on a theme of 'Around the World'.

The children were treated to pizza-making, noodle tasting, chinese lantern-making, 'around the world' puzzles (made by the students), collage activities and more.

Throughout the day, children carried a 'passport' which was stamped at every 'country' they visited.

The Playday provides students with a valuable opportunity to work as a team and provides a unique experience which they can draw on for university and employment interviews.

A high proportion of the students on this course progress onto higher education, many into primary teaching. The course offers an exceptional preparation for primary teaching, particularly as it offers students the opportunity to work with babies and young children as well as 5-8 year olds.

College staff, who accompanied the students, expressed their gratitude to Karen Woodgate and her staff for making the students welcome and providing encouragement and support throughout the day.

Tutor Mary Osman said: "Everyone - children, students and adults alike - has had a brilliant day. The college benefits from an excellent partnership with the Early Years Nursery, who provide ongoing opportunities for work experience for our students at all levels. Today, the students have been privileged to work with all the children, aged 2 to 4 years old, with many of the students particularly enjoying the experience of working with children with a range of additional learning needs and disabilities."
