13 schools unite for green plan

YOUNGSTERS from 13 schools in East Worthing and Adur took part in an eco-summit on Friday.

Led by East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton pupils had the chance to take part in a United Nations-style session in the afternoon.

The aim of the day was to share best practice of how schools are already undertaking various innovations to reduce waste, increase recycling, maximise energy efficiency, and how local communities can be more environmentally friendly.

Mr Loughton said: "What I find is when I came I go round my schools is some of the brightest ideas come from young people themselves."

He said the pupils had come up with some fantastic ideas saying: "I want every school to become an eco-school in East Worthing and Shoreham.

"The environment is a fantastic educational tool that challenges the imagination of young people that are increasingly aware of climate change and the damage we are doing."
