Rustington meeting campaigns for better diabetes care

PEOPLE with diabetes are being encouraged to attend an event in Rustington next week to strengthen a campaign to improve services for those with the illness.

The charity Diabetes UK hopes to recruit new members for its Diabetes Voices campaign at Thursday’s (June 28) free workshop session at the Woodland Centre, Woodlands Avenue.

The event will provide an opportunity to develop a network for people who want to improve diabetes services and work with the charity to influence and campaign for a better level of care in their area.

Jill Steaton, south-east regional manager of Diabetes UK, said: “We believe every person with diabetes, whether Type 1 or Type 2, wherever they live in the UK, deserves the best treatment and services.

“Getting involved in Diabetes Voices is an opportunity to make a real difference for people with the condition. Our experience shows that these types of events open to the public are an excellent way to raise awareness and give practical advice.”

Sandwiches and light refreshments will be served at 6.30pm, and the meeting will start at 7pm. Places must be booked in advance – call 01372 720 148 or email [email protected]
