Roedean Moira House is scheduled to close due to a cash crisis at the end of the summer term.

But last week headteacher Andrew Wood told parents the school was in detailed discussions with an interested party regarding the possible purchase of Moira House and the site.

In a letter – seen by the Herald – Mr Wood said, “If these are successful, Moira House will be independent from any other school.

“All sides are working with a positive mutual purpose to ensure their timely resolution.

“The aim is for a seamless continuity for our 145 years educational history from September this year.

“Clearly our next steps are to work with existing, previous and potential parents to ascertain our numbers for this coming September.

“Our purchaser and I are passionate about Eastbourne and Moira House School. We believe there is a local and wider appetite for our values and ethos.”

Mr Wood has been contacted for a comment.
