Rebecca White has been appointed as the new adviser to the Bognor Regis Regeneration Board following the recent retirement of David Myers who served in the role for

six years.

Raof Daud the board’s chair said: “We are delighted that Rebecca will be joining the board as our new advisor on August 17 2020, after she completes her notice period with her current employer.

"She is a very able person with a positive attitude, excellent people skills and extensive experience in public and private organisations.

"After taking over as chair last year, I set out the board’s priorities being to be more inclusive by widening its membership to include other key local stakeholders, improvement/regeneration in the town centre and ensuring the sustainability of the board’s finances.

"The board will continue with these objectives within the new norms arising from the impacts of Covid-19.”

The position of advisor was widely advertised, the board received strong response from very high-quality candidates.

Applicants were shortlisted and online interviews conducted, due to social distancing, based on criteria decided by the board’s steering group.

Rebecca said: “I’m really looking forward to working with the members and key local partners to develop relationships, deliver the board’s objectives and build on the fantastic achievements made in Bognor Regis over the last few years.

"It’s a town with so much to be proud of, both in terms of its heritage and its future and I’m excited to be able to play a part in showcasing all it has to offer.”

Rebecca is currently employed by Selsey Town Council as town clerk and responsible finance officer, where she has served for six years.

A spokesman for the board added: "The board wishes to record its grateful thanks to David Myers for the excellent work he did in expanding the Board’s membership, building up a reserve fund and promoting a wide range of regeneration projects in and around Bognor Regis."
