STOPHAM

He wandered a wide world so rich and excitingSaw so many strange and rare, vibrant sights. From Hadrian's Wall to the Great one in ChinaAnd marvelled at magical, strange Northern Lights.

He sat in gondolas floating through Venice

Stood spellbound in Egypt to the old Sphinx's spell.

Sensed keenly the history of Rome and of Athens

And yet felt the gut call of proud Arundel.

For always his rich, educated mind wandered

Returning to Sussex scenes rural and dear

The old bridge at Stopham, green hills still alive with

Echoes and memories of a childhood spent here.
