It’s amazing that Ab Fab first aired in 1992 and, apart for a some specials, finished in 1995.
It was heralded as one of the best modern sit-coms in the modern era and those TV programmes are still as fresh as ever.
So no surprise we have a movie - just incredible it’s taken so long.
And if you thought writer and star Jennifer Saunders might have lost her edge in the intervening years, think again.
Over 90 minutes this is Ab Fab as we remember it - witty one-liners, well observed barbs about celebs and some farce thrown in for good measure.
You get the impression that well known stars of TV, film and the fashion world were queueing up to get a cameo as there are too many to mention.
The plot, as such, sees Edina (Saunders) and Patsy (Joanna Lumley) still boozing their way through life and living on the edge of celebrity.
However, discovering they are broke, they then have to run away to France when Edina is accused of killing a major celeb.
It’s true that there are slight lulls and one or two quite surreal moments but equally there are outstandingly funny scenes.
My favourite was Rebel Wilson as cabin crew on an economy flight.
Quite simply, if you enjoyed the TV programmes then you’ll love the film.
