Worthing newcomers combine for live and virtual exhibition

Clouds and Claws runs from May 26-June 7. Paintings by Alison and Diane will be hung in Colonnade House and can be viewed from the picture windows on Warwick Street and High Street. The Colonnade House website is providing online images and video tours of the exhibition as well as studio-based videos of the artists talking about their creative processes.

“This is a show that promises to be bold, bright, intuitive and engaging”, says Alison – two newcomers to Worthing with established reputations as artists who have formed an artistic partnership to exhibit their work together.

“The paintings reveal complementary views of the natural world.”

Alison’s spacious semi-abstract landscape paintings will partner Diane’s close up and sympathetic wildlife pieces: “Moody seascapes and sunlit hills will sit alongside bright-eyed birds and curious mammals.”

The artists have recently relocated from Yorkshire and Dartmoor respectively bringing strong reputations with them. Both have studios at Colonnade House where they met, made friends and shared their love of paint and nature. This is the first chance to see a substantial number of their works gathered together in Worthing.

Alison has exhibited successfully both nationally and internationally and her work is in private collections in New York, Hong Kong, Singapore and across the UK.

Diane is a BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year winner with work selected by national academies. She studied Zoology before gaining a degree in Art and Design, worked for conservation organisations, is a keen scuba diver and has travelled the world several times.

Alison said: “We feel really privileged to have studios in Colonnade House in the heart of Worthing. It is such a wonderful and welcoming town and, despite the lockdown restrictions, we hope to give people an exciting experience and the opportunity to share our love of the natural world through this exhibition.’
