Shoreham's Ropetackle offers live streamed comedy night
Shoreham’s Ropetackle takes its Barnstormers Comedy Club online on Saturday, April 17, with a live streamed version of the popular monthly stand-up show.
Spokeswoman Nicky Thornton said: “Three well-known comics will perform live sets from their own living-rooms (or sheds) and bring sparkling adult humour to an audience at home.
“The line-up consists of Mock The Week regular Mark Simmons, character actor and Wilkos infiltrator Troy Hawke and comic storyteller/actor Rob Rouse (The Upstart Crow, 8 out of 10 cats, Spoons, The Friday Night Project, Celebrity Juice, Dave’s One Night Stand, John Bishop’s Only Joking and Live at the Comedy Store.) The show will be a heady mix of one-liners, character comedy and observational/storytelling stand-up.
“All the acts have experience with online performance and have been learning to adapt their act accordingly.
“The compere for the evening is Sally-Anne Hayward, herself a seasoned live entertainer and MC, who most recently worked on Sarah Millican’s weekly online show, Playground.”
Sarah said: “I've got to enjoy MC-ing online. It can be a lot of fun. Seeing into peoples’ living rooms is always interesting! It's obviously different to live comedy as we are all at home and there can be a slight time delay. But as a necessary replacement for live comedy, I think it works really well.
“Audience members turning their videos and sound on helps everyone hear each other laugh and that's always nice. The audience can really expect a fun show and a different way to spend a Saturday night. Get your drinks poured and make yourself comfortable!”
Tickets are £6 and can be bought online at:
The exclusive Zoom link will be sent on the day of the show and the fun kicks off at 8pm.
Ropetackle Arts Centrre reopens on May 17 with a summer programme. The next Barnstormers Comedy Club at Ropetackle is scheduled for Saturday 19th June at 8pm.
