Worthing Rugby Club labour to win

WORTHING RFC stayed on top of London 1 and in pole position for National League rugby with a 25-17 victory away to Barnes while rivals London Scottish and Ealing also won.

While Scottish were taking over as the side with the best points difference, thanks to a 104-7 destruction of Guildford, Worthing struggle through with four tries, plus a Sid Claffey penalty and conversion.

Duncan Taylor went over twice, Sussex Under-20 fly-half Matt Farnes once,and lock Charlie McGowan added his sixth try of the season.

Head of rugby Ian Davies commented: "We made hard work of it. We got distracted by their players, the referee and some of the incidents that were going on."
