Wickers grab a point

SOUTHWICK Football Club extended their unbeaten home league run to nine games on Saturday but player-boss Dominic Shepherd felt his should have got all three points.

In a first-half of few opportunities, the main talking point came on 35 minutes. Ricky Timms was dismissed for a foul and, from the ensuing melee, St Francis' Dan O'Farrell was also red-carded for an alleged headbutt.

With both sides down to 10 men, Rangers went ahead two minutes before half-time through Sam Jeremiah.

Wickers equalised 11 minutes into the second period but were then unable to force a winner. Grant Bean played in Jordan Saunders and after his cross was blocked, he following it up with a crashing effort which hit the underside of the bar, bounced on the line and flew into the roof of the net.

Saunders then went close to a winner but his 18-yard strike hit a post. Shepherd twice could have won it and Harry Constable headed over as Southwick enjoyed plenty of pressure, without forcing Rangers' keeper into many saves.

SOUTHWICK: Cheal; Ricky Timms, T.Timms, Thompson, Lipscombe; Saunders, Harris, Bean, J.Elliott; Shepherd, Constable. Subs: Benn (Bean 77), Ryan Timms (Lipscombe 80), Maltman (Shepherd 88), Porter, Hamilton.
