Thunder snatch thrilling over-time win

WORTHING Thunder Basketball Club beat MK Lions 102-100 in a BBL thriller on Sunday (March 13).

Thunder were down by 12 points early in the last quarter and were still nine down with just 3mins 3sec left.

But they then went on an 11-point run and led 86-84 before Lions’ Travis Nelson sent the game to over-time when he sank a two-pointer with four seconds left.

The game went back and forth in over-time but MK led 100-98 with 21 seconds left.

Cleve Woodfork drew Thunder level with 12 seconds to play.

MK missed their shooting opportunity and Thunder’s Adam Williams was fouled with two seconds to play and then sank both free throws to seal Thunder’s third win of the season and second over MK.

Woodfork topped Thunder’s scorers with 23 points, while Sherrad Prezzie-Blue, Williams and Marlin Capers all sank 20.

Nelson was the game’s high scorer with 31 points, while Stefan Gill also added 24 for Lions.
