Sky are showing a recorded BBL game every week during the season and Thunder’s game at Plymouth on Sunday will be broadcast as live at 5.30pm on Sky Sports 4 on Tuesday.

Thunder assistant coach Alan Sweetman-Hicks is looking forward to the game and is also hoping that Sky’s coverage will raise the profile of the sport in this country.

He said: “Everyone at the club is really looking forward to our first appearance on Sky.

“Obviously, we’ll be the only team from the town to be on Sky, so we’re really looking forward to that as well and I’m sure a few players will be getting hair cuts this week to make sure they look good for television.

“It’s good to have the game back on television and, hopefully, it will raise the sport’s profile in the UK.”

Thunder have a home game with MK Lions on Saturday (7.30pm) first, before the trip to Plymouth (4pm), who include former Thunder players Evaldas Zabas and Sam Cricelli.

Zabas started this season at Thunder, playing two games, and Sweetman-Hicks said: “We’ve played them twice already in the BBL Trophy this season, with one win each, but they’ve got Evaldas since then and we’ve got Sherrad Prezzie-Blue in.

“We weren’t completely happy with the way Evaldas left us, so that’s a little sub-plot to the game and they’ve got Sam as well, so everyone’s going to be really up for it and it should be a good game to watch.”

There are no plans for Thunder to have a home game shown on Sky Sports at the moment but the club hope another one of their away games later in the season will be televised.
