Thunder to get another taste of BBL

WORTHING Thunder Basketball Club coach Daniel Hildreth is looking forward to bringing “BBL basketball” back for another night on Saturday, but is concentrating more on Sunday’s league game against Bradford Dragons.

Thunder’s BBL Trophy quarter-final tie with Cheshire tips-off at 7.30pm on Saturday and Hildreth said: “Nobody expected us to get to the quarter-finals, which is a great achievement for the players and the club in itself, especially as we are in a period of transition and development.

“To get to the semi-finals is a very tough ask but one we will prepare for as we do all our games, to win. Bringing BBL basketball back to Worthing again this season means so much to the club and the fans, and a win would be just icing on the cake.”

Thunder then host a Bradford side, who have lost three games in a row, in EBL Division 1 on Sunday (5pm).

Hildreth said: “Bradford have had an inconsistent run of late and I hope that my players can bring intensity and execution to both games this weekend. If we want to get out of the bottom two, there is no doubt that consistency will be key for us.

“We are good enough to be a play-off team. We are capable of it and we can beat any team in the EBL on our day.”

The Sunday game is “Kids for a Quid” so children under-16 pay just £1.
