WORTHING tenpin bowler Lisa John has a busy few months representing England ahead.

She is ranked the number one female player in England this year and heads to the European Champions Cup in Finland next month, before competing in the women’s World Tenpin Bowling Championships in Hong Kong in September and then the World Cup in South Africa in December.

I’d love to get on the podium at the Euros. I won it in 2001 and finished third in 2002 and I’ve been in pretty good form recently.

“There’s six of us going out for the World Championships to compete in singles, doubles, trios and team events.

“Three of us have played in it before but the other three have never played, so it will be a big learning experience.

“We’re hoping to come back with a medal, that would be the dream, but we’d be very pleased with a top 10 finish.

“This competition is so much bigger than anything else we play. There will be so much support as tenpin bowling is big in Asia. Then we’re off to South Africa, which is another exciting trip.”

With such a busy competition schedule, John says that she has to manage her time well: “Over the next few weeks, I will dedicate all of my time outside of work to training.

“I practise twice a week but will up my sessions to four times a week. My employers and sponsors Spofforths are so supportive about me taking time out of the office to compete. I really hope to win this year and come back as defending champion in 2012.”

John thanks Spofforths and sponsors Vagg Flooring and Bennett Griffin for all their support. Anyone else interested in sponsoring her, can call her on 07816 648400.
