Sussex Martlets enjoy regional success

SUSSEX Martlets had a number of success stories at the south east regional trampoline grading competition in Gillingham at the weekend.

The club had a number of gymnasts at the event and managed to secure seven podium places, while four gymnasts qualified up to the next grade.

Brooke Hassell was the star of the show for the Martlets as she scored an outstanding 51.1 to confirm her place at Grade D in the next south east regional competition in April.

She successfully performed her most difficult routine to date to step up a grade.

Becky Redman also had a fantastic competition as she performed two sound routines in the under-13 Grade F event to score 47.9 She finished third on the podium to gain a place at Grade E for the next competition.

Joshua Belchamber wowed the judges with a superb set routine, followed by a strong voluntary routine to win the under-13 boys’ Grade F competition.

He scored 48.0 and will now be in the Grade E category in April.

Amelia Lovelock produced two stunning performances to score a solid 47.6 to gain promotion to Grade E. Ella Lovelock finished third in the under-15 girls’ Grade E and Zach Hughes-Burton took first place in the under-15 boys’ Grade E category with 48.1.

Daniel Pinkney was second in his first regional competition with a score of 46.575 and William Pinkney was third with 45.5.

In the team competition, the under-13 Grade F Martlets’ boys’ team took first place, while the under-13 Grade F girls’ team of Becky Redman, Amelia Lovelock, Amber Boulton and Sydney-Dawn Moore were second.

The under-15 Grade F girls’ team of Amy Wellman, Harleigh Broughton and Alice Rollings were second, with the other team of Charlotte Le Merle, Eli Middleton and Danielle Mansbridge third.

Jade McKelvie performed a new challenging routine which gained her a steady 42.5 in the under-19 Grade F competition.
