SCOTT SENDS SAM'S PORTSLADE TO DEFEAT

MISSED opportunities cost Portslade dear away to runaway league leaders Middleton on Saturday. Portslade had chances to dismiss both Middleton openers Bruce Scott and Phil Price early in their innings, but they went on to share a 141 first-wicket stand.

Scott was dropped on just one at gully by Ian Morley off Luke Jones and Price had got just two when he flashed a shot just past Portslade wicketkeeper Paul Westgate, again off Jones.

Before the game, Portslade captain Sam Jones had identified Scott as Middleton's dangerman and how he must have wished that they had got him out early. He went on to smash 110 and Price hit 39.
