The win lifted Raiders up to 11th in the table and Dawson said: “It was a great win but, more importantly, it was the performance again.

“Because of where we are in the league, we’ve gone back to basics and said let’s go back to what we love – playing with the ball, expressing ourselves and when the other team has the ball, we’ve got to go and get it back.

“That performance has been coming. We’ve been building towards it for the last three, four or five weeks. We had a great performance down in Cornwall but didn’t get the result, we had another good performance against Old Albanian and we were really unlucky in that game not to get some reward but now we’ve got back-to-back wins.

“It was really good to watch and a great spectacle.”

Dawson felt his team’s performance when they were down to 13 players was key in the first half and said: “We were immense when we were down to 13. We held them to 7-6 in that ten minutes but I felt we were a bit unlucky with both decisions which was frustrating but we showed great character.”

Dawson still feels his side can improve and added: “We should have had the confidence to have gone for the jugular in the second half and for the four tries.

“Yes it was an awesome performance and an awesome win but the nice thing is there’s still another level we can go up.”
