WORTHING RAIDERS Rugby Club captain Rob Smith is hoping his side can begin the new year the same way they ended 2014.
Raiders defeated the top two, Henley Hawks and Dorking, in their final matches of last year and Smith is confident his side can continue their fine form away to Canterbury on Saturday.
He said: “We ended 2014 on such a high with two great victories and everyone at the club is hoping that we can start the new year in the same way.
“Canterbury is never an easy place to go, especially at this time of year, so we know it will not be an easy task.
“We have already defeated them once this season but I think they may have taken us a little lightly on that occasion and we know this time around it will be a lot different.
“However, if we can play to our full potential I am sure that we can leave Canterbury with another win to our names.”
After a trip to Canterbury on Saturday, Raiders then host Chinnor in what will be their first game at Roundstone Lane in 2015.
Smith added: “It’s important now that we follow up good performances with another each week.
“At times in the first half of the year our consistency was not great and it is something we hope to address in 2015.”
