On Saturday, Shoreham entertain fellow Southern Combination League Premier Division side St Francis Rangers at Middle Road.

Rangers suffered a 7-0 defeat away to Horsham YMCA in their opening game of the season on Saturday but Mussels player-manager Kane Louis does not want his side to take too much notice of that result.

He said: “It’s a big game and we definitely want to win on Saturday.

“We’ll go into the game with a lot of positives from Tuesday.

“You can’t take too much from St Francis’s result on Saturday because in this league who don’t know who’s going to win. You always see a different result to what you might expect.

“We’ve just got to concentrate on ourselves because every game is going to be tough. Every team always works hard and puts a shift in and, if you don’t match that or better it, then you’re rarely going to win the game.

“A good cup run is very important, especially the FA Cup and FA Vase because that helps the club but even the other cups because it’s always good to get to a final and win a cup, whatever it is.”

Also on Saturday, Mile Oak travel to Southern Counties East League Premier Division side Holmesdale.

Lancing face a tough test on Sunday, when they travel to Horsham, who were relegated from the Ryman League South Division last season.

Any replays will take place next midweek.

Southwick and Steyning Town are also in cup action on Saturday, in the Peter Bentley Cup first round.
