Joe Launchbury and Joe Marler were both part of the England squad who played New Zealand in the third Test of their series, while James Chisholm and Harry Sloan helped England to win the Junior World Championship.

Launchbury and Marler both started all three games for England in the series against New Zealand, who moved on to 17 successive wins with the 3-0 series whitewash.

On Saturday, England lost 36-13 as Launchbury and Marler both played 67 minutes of the game.

There were better fortunes for Chisholm and Sloan as they helped England beat South Africa 21-20 in the final of the Junior World Championship.

England were the defending champions and held on to win under strong pressure in the closing stages.

Worthing player and assistant Raiders manager Matt Farnes said: “It is brilliant to see the boys all doing so well.

“We played with those guys at the beginning of their careers and to see them do so well is fantastic.

“Sloany and Chis were outstanding in the recent under-20 World Cup win and then Marler and Launch really stepped up in the NZ series.

“I’m sure we will see many more over the years step up, too. The best part is they still check back on us here and recognise their time at Worthing as a high point in their playing career.”
