Ex-Harlequins and London Scottish coaches join Worthing RFC set-up

Worthing RFC have boosted their coaching set-up.

Former player Jack Emmerson has returned to Roundstone Lane in a coaching role within the Raiders squad.

The head of rugby at Hurstpierpoint College and RFU level three coach, Emmerson has developed his coaching through school, club and county age group rugby and as a lead coach for Harlequins DPP. He will bring some a fresh pair of eyes and ideas to Raiders coaching.

Experienced coach and club man Jon Mills steps into the role of transition coach. He is a senior lecturer at Chichester University and has a association with Worthing RFC which goes back almost 30 years, so is well positioned to take on this key role within the club.

He will work with the U16s Raiders Academy and Worthing colts, seniors and Raiders coaches in overseeing the development of players as they move through age group rugby to men’s rugby.

He will continue to coach within the Raiders academy programme alongside his new responsibilities as transition coach at Worthing.

The club have also welcomed Chris Baxter to the coaching team. The level-three qualified sports performance coach has had many roles including spells at Harlequins DPP, Oxford Rugby League, London Scottish, Ealing Trailfinders academy and London Broncos rugby league club. He has been an international age grade coach.

Rene Draude, Worthing director of rugby, said: “Although the pathway to league rugby remains uncertain presently, I’m thrilled we have been able to welcome Jack, Jon and Chris into their new coaching coles within Worthing RFC.”

Numerous teams at the club have enjoyed training within current guidlienes.
