A SOLITARY strike from Bobby Zamora saw the Seagulls end a run of seven league games without a win, as the 35-year-old celebrated his birthday in the perfect manner as Brighton turned Blackburn over 1-0 at Ewood Park on Saturday.

The win, combined with defeats for promotion favourites Middlesbrough and Derby, sees Brighton cut to 3/1 (from 7/2) to be playing Premier League football next season. An excellent three points eases the pressure on manager Chris Hughton with a difficult Christmas and New Year for the Seagulls boss, with Brighton going 21 league games unbeaten before struggling with the weight of expectation thereafter.

Whilst Middlesbrough quite rightly gained headlines at the top-of-the-table, and the 1/2 favourites with BetVictor for the title, the chasing pack are edging ever near with Hull similarly making up ground on Aitor Karanka’s side and cut to 4/1 (from seven) to be crowned champions.

The Clarets were cut to 4/6 (From 10/11) to bounce straight back to the Premier League after beating Branford 3-1 in front of the Sky cameras on Friday night and once again grace our television screens when welcoming Derby to Turf Moor on Monday night.

With home advantage BetVictor are 29/20 favourites to seal a third Championship win on the bounce and give their promotion claims a

massive boost in the process; Derby 2/1 and the draw 9/4.

The good news for Brighton fans is one of the pair will drop points and Hull and Middlesbrough far from guaranteed successes when facing Fulham and Nottingham Forest respectively.

Brighton meanwhile look an excellent price at 23/20 with BetVictor to beat Huddersfield at the Amex and seal back-to-back league wins for the first time since October; the visitors 11/4 and the draw 12/5.

The Terriers were thumped 5-2 at Reading in the FA Cup midweek and have won just two of their last six games in all competitions, against the pair of Bolton and Charlton, who are the current 1/20 and 1/8 market leaders with BetVictor to be relegated at the end of the season.

The visitors could prove a handful in the final third but Brighton should have enough ammo themselves and they warrant supporting at 7/2 to win and both teams to score and 9/1 with BetVictor to beat the Terriers by the 2-1 correct score.

Evergreen 35-year-old Bobby Zamora netted the winner against Rovers at the weekend and will be popular amongst punters to open the scoring at 7/1 with BetVictor. He is respected but is overlooked on this occasion for strike-partner James Wilson, with the Manchester United loanee 15/8 to net anytime against the Terriers and 35/1 to net the opener in a 2-1 home win.
