Raiders set for clash with leaders Henley

Worthing Raiders Rugby Club coach Kieron Dawson has described Saturday’s home match with National 2 South leaders Henley Hawks as huge.

Raiders went down 22-21 in a last-minute defeat at Shelford last weekend and Dawson wants to see a response from his promotion-chasing side. He said: “We have to lick our wounds and pick ourselves right back up.

“We need to go out to win on Saturday as I think we have almost got in the habit of not losing recently and we need to change that.

“It’s a huge day and a big day for the club with the firework display after the game and after last week’s disappointment, we’ll be hoping for a big response.”

“It’s reminiscent of our game against Richmond last year and we had 1,200 people for that and the players responded to that crowd.”

Kick-off at Roundstone Lane is 2pm.
