Jack of Clubs Open organiser Warwick Davis said: “The calibre of player that will be competing is very high and it is great that we have managed to attract these players to play in the tournament.

“We had to extend it to a three-day event owing to the interest, so I’m hopeful it will be a great success.”

Davis is also hoping that many more PlanetBowls events will come to Worthing.

He added: “We lost the nationals being held here recently, so to get a tournament of this size is great for the town.

“We are looking at trying to hold it once every four months or so, if it proves to be successful.

“This will be the first indoor tournament we have held but I’m sure it will go well.”

Anyone is welcome to watch the tournament, with the bar and restaurant open throughout the weekend.
