Oak hit for six

MILE OAK Football Club's five-game unbeaten league run came to a crashing end when they lost 6-2 at home to St Francis Rangers on Saturday.

Individual errors gifted Rangers, Oak's bogey side, five of their six goals. Since, Rangers were promoted into Division 2 three seasons ago, Oak have failed to take any points from them.

Rangers have fired home 21 goals in six games and even when Oak beat them, 2-0, last season, Rangers were awarded the points because Oak played defender Nathan Loughlin while he was suspended.

Saturday's reverse, was the second time Rangers have hit six past Oak.

After a quiet opening half hour, St Francis went ahead on 29 minutes. Nick Lansdale failed to clear a long ball over the top and Sam Jeremiah lobbed Oak keeper Ashley Walker.

Oak almost levelled immediately but Mark Henry's long-range effort crashed against the bar.

Three minutes before half-time, it was 2-0. Jason Fleming lost possession in his own penalty area and Jeremiah scored after Walker saved his first effort.

Oak gave themselves a lifeline two minutes into the second half when Lansdale headed home Clive Jackson's corner.

However, Rangers restored their two-goal lead on 57 minutes when Jeremiah completed his hat-trick after hesitancy at the back between Ryan Sargent and Walker.

Rob Cooper's cross flew straight in to make it 4-1 on 65 minutes before further defensive errors gifted Mary Aylett (79mins) and Ian Breeds (88mins) further goals.

Lansdale headed home his second three minutes into injury-time from Dave Ayre's corner.
