Rustington past on a postcard

This postcard shows The Old Manor House in Rustington at the turn of the 20th century.

A manor house may have existed there since the 12th century.

The view, taken by Edwin Allen, shows a later dilapidated building, which had become a home for farmworkers on Heaseman’s Farm.

Two of them are shown here; on the left, George Gates, and the other man may be Thomas Keats.

The house was later renovated after 1918, and, in 1968, opened as the Manor Club.
