Mussels lose to Horsham

SHOREHAM Football Club lost their Brighton Charity Cup quarter-final 2-0 at home to Ryman League Horsham on Wednesday.

Stuart Myall fired Horsham into a 21st-minute lead, before Kevin Hemsley sealed their victory with 12 minutes left.

In between the goals, Mussels had several chances to equalise. Rob Boddy, twice, and Lee Denyer went close, Dan Jordan had an effort saved, Mark Burt shot over and Tom Rajan fired just wide.

Shoreham's performance delighted joint-manager Fred Proto, who said: "We were absolutely excellent.They had a very strong side out but we were tremendous in the second half.

"We worked hard and more than matched them. It was a really pleasing performance."

Horsham will now meet Pagham in the semi-finals. East Preston host Ringmer in the other semi-final.
