SHOREHAM Academy pupil Joe Lumb was crowned Southern Counties junior novice champion in Sitting-bourne earlier this month.
The 15-year-old boxer won by a unanimous points decision in his 66kg weight group against James Barr, from Mole Valley.
Lumb represents Brighton & Hove Boxing Club, where he has been since he was 12, and he has seven wins from his ten bouts, including a TKO recently.
He said: “I would like to thank everyone at the club, trainers, boxers and my family for supporting me in the sport that I love.
“I have met some great people and this sport has made me disciplined and given me great respect for others, so much so that I became head boy for my house at school this year. I will carry on putting everything I have got into carrying on winning these contests and, hopefully, will get to represent England in the near future.”
Going forward, Lumb will compete in the Western Counties and, if successful, will compete in the Eastern Counties and then the Northern Counties.
He has a strict training regime of three nights and one day at the weekend in the gym and he also runs every day, alongside a healthy well-balanced diet.
