A TOP-CLASS indoor PlanetBowls tournament heads to Worthing Pavilion next month.

The Jack of Clubs Open singles tournament will now take place over three days as the event has been over subscribed and the competition is now taking reserve entries. It will now begin on November 7 and then take place over the weekend of November 8 and 9.

There are 76 entries from all over England and Wales and the entries include two Commonwealth Games gold medallists and former England internationals.

There is also a strong number of local entries and spectators will be welcome, with parking available, although competitiors will have priority.

The bar and restaurant will be open throughout the event and the winner will receive £1,000. The runner-up will get £500, the losing semi-finalists receive £200 and the losing quarter-finalists get £100.

Pavilion hosted its first PlanetBowls outdoor tournament in May and will hold another two outdoor events next year.

A tournament will be held over the May Spring bank holiday weekend, before there will then be a Grand Prix in September for the top 32 bowlers in the PlanetBowls outdoor series.

Jack of Clubs Open organiser Warwick Davis said: “Hopefully all these events, along with the usual Worthing Open at Beach House Park in August, will keep the reputation of Worthing as a bowling centre.”
