Worthing wheelchair tennis star Lauren Jones is set to make her Great Britain senior debut in the BNP Paribas World Team Cup next week.
Jones will be part of the GB team that travels to Tokyo as they take part in wheelchair tennis’ annual flagship team event. The 20-year-old will join Louise Hunt and Luz Esperanza-Merry to make up the British team.
Jones already has two medals while representing Great Britain in the World Team Cup junior event and is relishing playing in the women’s event for the first time.
The event takes place at the Ariake Tennis Colosseum, the venue for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic tennis competitions.
Jones said: “I’ve got some great memories of my first two World Team Cups, after winning bronze in the junior event in Korea four years ago, then winning the World Team Cup junior title alongside Alfie Hewett and Esperanza a year later.
“I’m very excited to be a part of the women’s team for the first time this year.
“As I come from a football background in my younger days, I love playing in team events and it’s an environment I really enjoy.”
