FISHERGATE Boxing Club’s Hayley Weller was recently crowned Southern Counites champion.
Weller, who lives in Woodingdean, won the title in the 57-60kg category.
The Fishergate fighter had to overcome a stellar field on her way to claiming the class-A championship. Weller will now fight in the national semi-finals later this year.
She said: “I’m so happy to have won the Southern Counties final and am very much looking forward to the national semi-final.
“I’m feeling confident going forward in the championships but never underestimate my opponents. Myself and my team have worked extremely hard to get to this point and I couldn’t have done it without them, we are like a family.
“I am 32 years old now, so not like most of the spring chickens out there but I don’t let that stop me achieving my boxing goals.
“Boxing has become a big part of my life and I never want to be without it.”
