Thunder reached the final of the National Cup and quarter-finals of the National Trophy last season and Allen said: “I’m very happy that the club fought so hard in order to bring me back. They have remained faithful and put a lot of trust in me through a summer filled with options and choices and I’m glad I can say I’m going to be in black and orange again.

“It’s my third year back and I’m happy to be able to wear the Thunder jersey once again. As my career progresses, I see the importance of a great coach and team mates. This summer I have been working diligently to improve and bring new things to my game.”

Thunder coach Daniel Hildreth says keeping Allen is vital for the team: “I am really happy with the conversations currently taking place for the season ahead.

“I made it very clear at the end of last season that I want to bring all the guys back and, if possible, to make an addition or two along the way.

“As a team, we grew as the season went on and again showed a team based on local talent can compete with and beat the best in the league.

“Many teams change roster year in, year out but that’s not my philosophy. Continuity is vital and comes hand in hand with success in my experience and that’s something I intend to do this year.

“I’m delighted that Louis has decided to return. In our opinion, he is the best three-point shooter in the league and for that reason alone commands such respect from the opposition that it opens up opportunities to others.

“I know Louis had other options but it’s a testament to his character to remain by staying loyal to his team and the fans in Worthing. He is a vital piece to the puzzle.

“We will be announcing some more signings in the coming weeks and a full insight into the season ahead.”
