The hosts picked up their first league win of the season having started the campaign with five consecutive losses.

Thunder were undone by a pull up jumper by Rob Donaldson with 6.7 seconds remaining after a succession of turnovers in a spell of ten seconds led to Donaldson’s shot. Tom Ward had a chance to send the game to over-time but his drive and attempted lay-up was blocked.

Worthing coach Daniel Hildreth said: “At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you are a rookie, a youngster or a veteran, turnovers that careless should never happen.

“At the end when Tom had the ball, I called it for him, and his lay-up would have taken us into over-time and with our momentum, we probably would have won the game. I wasn’t prepared to risk it and go for the three-point shot.

“I knew Tom would create something and I was happy with the shot that he got but unfortunately it didn’t go through the net.

“Overall, though, we started slow and sluggish, our execution was poor, we gathered speed and got ourselves into a good position to win the game but we have lost again. Simple.”

Tomas Seduikis led Worth-ing with 14 points, Ward added 13 and Joe Carter hit 12.
