Lancing again hope for a successful year

LANCING Bowls Club are hoping their 2012 season, which is the club’s 75th anniversary, is as successful as the 2011 season.

On Saturday, the club were pictured with all the trophies they won last year. Under then-new captain Ted Stevens, they lifted the Littlehampton Gazette League Division 3 title, and won Divisions 4 and 6 of the Brighton, Hove and District League.

Treasurer Alan Leppard said: “We are hoping to continue the success we had last year, but it’s always harder as you step up the ladder, so to speak.”

The club have a number of events planned throughout the year to celebrate their anniversary, and Leppard added: “We have a big game in July when Bowls England and the county are coming down with all the dignitaries and the chairman of the council, which is the main celebration of the anniversary.”

The club are also holding an open day as part of the Adur festival on Saturday, June 2, when they hope to attract some new members.
