Gleeson, 20, represents Great Britain in rifle shooting and recently became British champion in her field, women’s three position rifle (0.22 calibre).

Jack Wills Young Brits is a nationwide search for up-and-coming talent between the ages of 16 and 25.

Gleeson has entered the competition under the endurance category, which covers sportsmen/women, adventurers, pilots, travellers, explorers, hitch-hikers and trainers.

If Gleeson is a winner, she will receive £5,000 to go towards her shooting, professional mentorship, £500 in Jack Wills clothing and the chance to be in a Jack Wills photo shoot.

Earlier this year, Gleeson – who initially got into shooting through 1st Goring-by-Sea Scouts – twice broke the British record in her event while winning various medals with Team GB in Germany.

She also shot a personal best during qualification for the British Championships at the Lord Roberts National Shooting Centre at Bisley, before excelling in the final to become British champion.

Gleeson is hoping to represent Great Britain at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, but her continued success is highly dependent on funding.

She said: “Shooting is a very unique sport and there isn’t much funding in terms of support for training and competitions. This is something that the Jack Wills Young Brits award can really help me with in the future.”
