Thunder kept alive their hopes of progressing in National Trophy Pool 1 with wins over Essex Leopards on Saturday and then Bradford Dragons on Sunday.

Worthing started slowly in both games but strong second-half showings in both matches saw them deliver the wins. They have now won all three of their home matches this season and Hildreth believes their home form will be key, when they begin their English League Division 1 season on October 26.

Speaking after the Bradford win, Hildreth said: “This is the greatest place in the league to play. There’s no question about it, the guys are always psyched up to come and play here in front of what is always a very noisy, enthusiastic crowd and it goes a long way in our energy levels and that’s something which we thrive on.

“When the crowd gets behind us and when we’re playing confidently and are really hyped up – that’s when we’re playing our best basketball.

“We now need to make sure that we can carry some of that momentum in to our away fixtures as well.”

Thunder do not have a match this weekend but are back in action when their league campaign begins, against Leeds Carnegie on October 26.
