Thunder host Reading Rockets, who were crowned champions at the weekend, on Saturday (7.30pm) and then entertain Leicester Warriors on Sunday (5pm).

Hildreth said: “Looking at the table, I think places could still be determined until the final day, apart from Reading.

“There are two or three teams fighting for second and third, two or three teams fighting for the next couple of spots and, realistically, there’s five or six teams playing for the last couple of places.

“Realistically, eighth place is the only spot we could get, so Reading will come here trying to beat us to avoid us in the play-offs – as we’d probably play them if we got there.

“Although they’ve been crowned champions, they’ll come here looking to finish the season strongly to prepare for the play-offs.

“Leicester is then a winnable game on Sunday. They’re one of the teams we’re up against, in terms of getting to the play-offs.

“We lost to them earlier in the season, when they beat us by five on a day when we were short-handed and didn’t play particularly well.”
