GREEN LEADS FROM THE FRONT IN CUP WIN

STEYNING Cricket Club are through to the quarter-finals of the Sussex League cup after a comfortable eight-wicket win against Cuckfield on Sunday. This followed, a narrow 24-run defeat at Preston Nomads on Saturday, although they 14 points they picked up, moved them to within two points of getting out of the drop zone.

Skipper Jeremy Green was influential with both bat and ball as Steyning comfortably beat Division 2 leaders Cuckfield.

Green followed his 2-17 in a tidy seven-over stint with an unbeaten 52 as Cuckfield, who could only muster ten men, were well beaten with 11.2 overs to spare.
