Worthing continue pre-season with win over Colbran’s Redhill

WORTHING Football Club’s pre-season friendlies continued last night (Wednesday) as they overcame Redhill 2-1 at Woodside Road.

Headers in each half from Steve Metcalf and Ryan McBride put Rebels ahead, before County League Division 1 side Redhill, managed by ex-Worthing boss Simon Colbran, pulled a late goal back through Clinton Moore’s deflected effort.

Rebels boss Chris White featured 25 players during the 90 minutes, again including a number of triallists combined with new signings and a number of last season’s squad.

Worthing had overcome Division 2 side East Preston the previous evening with a 6-4 victory as Graham Martin, Charlie Farmer, McBride, Jamie Brotherton, Metcalf and Spencer Slaughter got the goals.

The next match in their pre-season schedule sees them host newly-relegated Ryman League Premier side Lewes at Woodside Road on Saturday. Kick-off is 3pm.
