Whittington, who stepped down as boss in the summer, was filling in with Ben Shoulders unavailable.

Jamie McKenzie’s 12th-minute strike put Oak in command but missed chances cost them dear as Aiden Cawte levelled things up after 52 minutes.

But Jack Stenning bagged his second in as many matches 18 minutes from time to earn Oak a first league win.

Whittington felt it should have been more convincing and said: “I think we probably should have been two or three up at half-time.

“Credit to the team they showed great character to come away with the win.”
