Waller has been managing on and off for the past 15 years in the local area, with spells at East Preston and Littlehampton along with Midhurst.

He feels now is the right time to step down and said: “I’ve been managing for the past 15 years on and off but this is a young manager’s game now. The club needs a young manager to come in, with three or four new players, to move forward.

Rustington is a good starting point for a manager. It’s a good club here and just needs someone keen and enthusiastic who is looking to start their managerial career.

“I’ll still help out at the club if they need me and I’ll make sure they get the right man in.”

Anyone interested in taking over as Rustington manager can contact Trevor Waller on 07778 015682.

Rustington have two games left – at home to Montpelier Villa on Saturday and then at Billingshurst on April 30.
