SUSSEX footballer Sam Gargan has been banned from all football activity for three months.

The Whitehawk player admitted breaching the Football Association’s Rule E8 in relation to betting.

Gargan, 26, who began his career with Brighton, has also played for Worthing, Bognor, Eastbourne Borough, Lewes and Peacehaven.

The FA implemented the new rule in August, which prevents all players from Steps 1-4 betting on any games in the world of football.

Speaking on Gargan’s three-month ban, the FA said: “Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Whitehawk’s Sam Gargan has been suspended from all football activity, with immediate effect, for three months.

“He will also be fined £300 after he admitted multiple breaches of FA Rule E8 in relation to betting.”
