Skipper: We'll give it a good go at Hawks

Town are due to travel to the National League South side for a quarter-final tie and Skipper said: “We have tried to keep our side focused on a game-by-game basis and we did that well at Ringmer on Saturday.

“We need to do the same going into our clash with Langney Wanderers this Saturday, then we can focus on Whitehawk.

“We are under no illusions what a tough test it will be for us. They are a quality side, with ex-league players who are paid to play.”

Southern Combination League Division 1 side Steyning ply their trade four leagues below Hawks, who are ninth in National League South and reached the second round of the FA Cup this season.

Town were reinstated into the Senior Cup, following a 2-1 defeat to East Grinstead in round three, after Grinstead fielded an ineligible player in that clash.

Skipper feels the quarter-final will offer his side a fantastic chance to test themselves against quality opposition.

Steyning have done well in cup competitions this season as they reached the second round of the FA Vase and beat division-higher Horsham in the first round.

Skipper feels it will be a great achievement if his side secure any kind of result at Whitehawk and said: “What I know is that we have the players to give it a good go on the night.

“We have proved that against higher opposition this season but this will be a bigger step up.

“To come away with something on the night would be a massive achievement and probably one of the biggest in Sussex for many a year.

“It’s certainly a game that everyone associated with the club is looking forward to, from the players to committee, and we must make sure we put on a show.”

The game on Tuesday kicks off at 7.45pm at The Enclosed Ground.
