Action from Shoreham under-14s clash with Oxford City

Shoreham Academy players made history over the weekend as the club played matches in the junior Premier National League for the first time ever.

The club’s newly launched academy have entered both under-14 and under-16 teams in to the competition.

Shoreham are the only club in Sussex to have teams entered in the Premier National League.

Both sides entered by Shoreham played their first matches last weekend.

Shoreham’s under-14s, taking on a vastly experienced Oxford City side, were beaten 5-0. The players did well holding out to 2-0 with only eight minutes to go but eventually the experience of Oxford came through. All the players should be proud of themselves.

Shoreham’s under-16 side managed to come away with a point from their clash with Basingstoke.

They put up an amazing fight in their first match in the JPL, coming away with a 3-3 draw against a well organised and experienced Basingstoke side. Great goals came from Lloyd Hobden, who struck twice, and George Fyffe getting the other as the under-16s claimed a battling draw.
